Thank you to Ron Weed for this report:
Regatta organizer Patrick Burks and PRO Darcy Cook put on a great event in August. Thirteen J/70s competed over three days completing eight races in conditions ranging from 6-22 knots. Chicago's crazy sea state was on full display. Day 1 saw onshore light breeze with confused chop and an open tactical racecourse. John Heaton's Empeiria program got the regatta off with a commanding win in Race 1. Bruno Pasquinelli's Stampede won race 2. Chris Shoendorfs Taz USA1355 had a great day ending with a pair of thirds. Day 2 Saturday was sailed in a shifty offshore breeze that generally built throughout the remainder of the weekend. The racecourse was pretty tricky and the sea state awful, but the racing was great with lots of gear changing and shifty conditions rewarding the effort. Stampede won Race 3. Jim Prendergast's team won race 4. Empeiria won Race 5. Sunday, Stampede had a good day winning the next two races with Empeiria bookending the regatta winning the last race. The Stampede team won, led by Bruno Pasquinelli included newbie racer Bruno Pasquinelli Jr (the 3rd, 4th, 5th?) doing bow, Greiner Hobbs and Ron Weed. Big thanks to Chicago Yacht Club for a super fun and super well-run event. Event details: [https://theclubspot.com/regatta/h1oQVLoYqj/results](https://theclubspot.com/regatta/h1oQVLoYqj/results)
